Before we introduce the starting lineups, we’d like for you to meet our special teacher guest for tonight’s game.  L-O-H-S is proud of our athletes, not only on the field but also in the classroom.  Academics and athletics go hand in hand in the lives of our students.  Before some of our home games, we ask a senior player to honor a faculty member who has influenced her in reaching classroom goals and has enriched her days here at Lake Orion High School.  Tonight, our senior in the spotlight is Kelsey Hopper, and her faculty honoree is Tim Polonkey.

Here’s what Kelsey  had to say about Mr. Polonkey.

I had Mr. Polonkey for Geology class, but really got to know him when I joined Earth Club junior year. What I learned about him is that he truly cares about the environment and he has such a passion for everything that he teaches. Polonkey is honestly an inspiration and somebody you can really learn from. He‘s such a genuine guy and is the reason me and many of my friends joined Earth Club. It’s something I never really expected myself to be a part of but turned out to be one of the best things I’ve done. He has helped our school in so many ways by encouraging and running the recycling program to cutting down invasive species in the back of our school. He takes Earth Club to the Envirothon competition and the Oceans Quiz Bowl each year-while also managing to make it fun with extra camping trips and rock climbs. Mr. Polonkey puts in so much extra effort and gives up so much of his free time to help teach which is why I think he especially deserves to be honored at tonight’s game. So thank you again Mr. Polonkey for everything that you have done.

Ladies and gentleman, please help us thank tonight”s senior player Kelsey Hopper, and her honored faculty member, Mr.Tim Polonkey.
